Where to see the Rialto Bridge from
A reliable view of the bridge is from the Riva del Vin, also called the Fondamenta del Vin. From this quay you see the arch and, in the same view, the palaces Ca' Farsetti and Ca' Loredan. The Riva del Ferro lies opposite on the other side of the bridge and gives a second angle. The arch stands between the two quays.
All of these viewpoints are public. None needs a ticket or a reservation. The only paid option is the boat, because Vaporetto line 1 needs a ticket. If you would like a guide to point out the details, a Rialto walking tour passes the bridge and the market district.

Our pick: the view from a gondola

Riva del Vin and Riva del Ferro
The two quays beside the arch.
Riva del Vin
You stand at the water and look at the arch, with Ca' Farsetti and Ca' Loredan in the view. It is a public quay, so there is no entry fee.
Riva del Ferro
This quay lies on the other side of the bridge and shows the arch from the opposite direction. It is not a paid lookout and there are no reserved photo spots.
Keep moving
Sitting or lying on bridges, steps and quays is not allowed. Fines run from €100 to €200. Stand to take your photo and give way to walkers.
The view from the bridge itself
On the arch you look along the Grand Canal. From the steps you can look south to the Vaporetto stop and the water traffic. The bridge is a public footpath, free to cross, over steps.
Stop at the side and let others pass. Guided groups are limited to 25 visitors, not counting one guide, and groups must not block the flow of walkers on bridges. For the bridge in the evening, see the Rialto Bridge at night. The shape and size of the arch are on the Rialto Bridge facts page.

The view from the water
Vaporetto line 1 stops at Rialto Mercato and at Rialto. The ride gives you a moving view of the bridge. It is not a viewing platform: a ticket is required, and a free sightline or a particular seat is not guaranteed.
Tickets in 2026: €9.50 for 75 minutes, €25 for 24 hours, €35 for 48 hours, €45 for 72 hours and €65 for 7 days. Validate at boarding. Children under 6 travel free. Line 2 also calls at Rialto. The full guide to the line is with Vaporetto line 1.
A gondola is priced per boat, not per person: €90 for 30 minutes, or €110 for 35 minutes between 19:00 and 03:00, for up to 5 people. More on rides in the gondola ride guide.

What about rooftop terraces?
The best-known rooftop viewpoint at the bridge was the terrace of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi. It has been closed since 1 May 2025, and there is no booking. The free quays and the arch itself are the reliable choices today. The status and history of the building are on the Fondaco dei Tedeschi page.
For the rest of the neighborhood, from San Giacomo di Rialto to Campo San Polo, use the things to do near the Rialto Bridge.
